Sorry for being Bossy

I have the tendency towards bossiness and I want to apologize. I am much older and have actually lived through the back to nature idea and living off the land etc phase during my younger life. Rammed earth, bale, cob, solar-before it was cheap- underground housing and the rest I have seen, lived in, been in as a guest so I am experienced in the process. I have experienced first hand what works from a female point of view- the one that cleans, cooks, cans, freezes, drys, decorates, spins,…See More

Havenheed's skills

Posted on August 19, 2011 at 13:58 4 Comments

Question- what skills are present in the citizens of Havenheed? Employable skills. I am a college teacher of literature, but I also have taught homemaking, budgeting skills, and can install drywall+ tape and float, paint and sew   (clothes and house goods). I can caulk, nail and do some sawing with help. And I have designed dwelling and such as a hobby. The biggest problem with past Utopian societies was a lack of practical skills- too many philosophers not enough workers who knew how to…

Another Manic Idea

Posted on August 17, 2011 at 22:36 4 Comments

Let us say that a huge land mass is not in the near future....

How about Havebheed Bed and Breakfast Inns we all can run one in our areas? There are also many small towns that are nearly deserted and for sale here in the US. Maine has many huge farm tracks with farm house for sale and they grow potatoes, broccoli and many other vegetables so it is not a useless place for growing food crops.  I think a Traditional Home magazine has an article about a person who is building a town…

A Gift Shop

Posted on August 17, 2011 at 1:08 3 Comments

We need a gift shop. Mugs, greeting cards, calendars, dinnerware, monogrammed towels and other items. Flags bumper stickers-because it is a good way to raise money and awareness. The colors are pretty, the designs are appealing that I see on this site. It is also a way to feel connected to the ideal while we all are living somewhere else- I am moving to Maine since I hate hot and drought. Now I know this just may be a girl thing. But It is a thought.

Regarding the fact that you keep getting asked what flarn is I thought maybe you might be interested in the language group. I've started a discussion for new words where people can as you might guess add new words and phrases for things and ideas we might develop.
